PT. Transjakarta Integrated Transport Division Acting Head, Bano Yogaswara said, up till this day, his side still continues to upgrade all Transjakarta bus shelters thus it can be accessed by people with disabilities.
"From total 240 Transjakarta bus shelters, only 67 bus shelters that are disabled-friendly. We continue to upgrade it gradually to make all bus shelters can be accessed by people with disabilities," he conveyed during online Focus Group Discussion (FGD) concerning Inventorying Transportation Needs for People with Disabilities held by Jakarta Transportation Council (DTKJ), on Wednesday (8/26).
Transjakarta Reopens Four Non-Corridor Routes
In disabled-friendly bus shelters, his side provides services such as route stickers, voice announcers, priority seats, and designing 289 low deck metrotrans buses to be easily accessed by people with disabilities.
Transjakarta also provide special service for people with disabilities called TJ Cares. There are 26 fleets equipped with this service. This service can be accessed by ordering it one day in advance. In 2019, at least 51 thousand customers with disabilities had enjoyed this service.
Meanwhile, DTKJ Chairperson, Harris Muhammadun added, his side is currently focused on upgrading transportation facilities that meet standards for people with disabilities. He admitted that transportation facilities and infrastructure in Jakarta are now much better.
"Recently, we are calculating and updating data on the percentage of sidewalks, bus fleets or trains and bus shelters that meet the specifications expected by people with disabilities and support organizers to realize it as soon as possible," he closed.
