Thousand Islands is Ready to Facilitate Land for Urban Farming

The Thousand Islands Regency administration is ready to facilitate lands on TIdung Kecil and Panjang islands for urban farming to support food security programs.

It was conveyed by Thousand Islands Acting Regent Junaedi after he received an audience representatives from the Ministry of Defense at the Mitra Praja Office, Wednesday (9/2).

According to him, he was very supportive of the Strategic Logistics Reserve Agency (BCLS) program in Jakarta area in an effort to create food security in Thousand Islands.

"I totally agree and we prepare Tidung Kecil and Panjang Islands for land availability," he expressed.

He went on to say that those two islands are vast empty land that can be cultivated for urban farming land and belong to the regional government.

As planned, the ministry was going to develop rice and cassava plants through their technology, including meeting the water needs for watering their plants, as the obstacle to farming in islands was fresh water.

"We plan to conduct a location survey this Saturday, including reviewing the feasibility of the land for urban farming land," he stated.
