Commission E Legislator, Abdul Aziz Muslim assessed, urban farming is a very effective food security program that can support residents affected by COVID-19 pandemic.
"Surely we fully support urban farming because it is related to food security that can make people become more independent," he said, Wednesday (8/12).
Ciracas Residents Utilize Unused Land for Urban FarmingEven though Jakarta has limited vacant land, he expected people to remain enthusiastic in developing urban farming. Moreover, currently there are many methods that can be used to improve the crop yields without relying on large land for urban farming.
"They can use various methods such as hydroponic, vertiminaponic and aquaponic to grow crops," he mentioned.
He also encouraged city to collaborate with residents thus unused lands in Jakarta can be used for urban farming.
"There are many social and public facilities that can be used for the locals," he added.
Similar thing also conveyed by other legislator from Commission E, Rani Mauliani. She assessed that urban farming in Jakarta can give additional income for residents affected by COVID-19 pandemic.
"I hope urban farming can be used for their additional income or savings," she closed.
