Improving COVID-19 Data Platform Capability, City Cooperates with British Embassy and LaporCOVID-19

Jakarta Government in collaboration with British Embassy and LaporCOVID-19 launched a joint project to improve the capabilities of COVID-19 platform in monitoring the virus spread in Jakarta.

The project launched virtually and attended by the British Ambassador to Indonesia, Owen Jenkins and Co-Initiator of COVID-19, Irma Hidayana, together with Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan.

, this project will generate and update data on the Pandemic Vulnerability Index (PVI) in Jakarta based on Risk Perception Index (RPI) and social conditions (traditional markets, health facilities, trains/bus terminals, et cetera) in every urban villages and statistical data on COVID-19.Kebayoran Baru RSUD Has Served 268 COVID-19 Patients During March-AugustIn his remarks, Anies mentioned several basic principles that have become the guideline for Jakarta Government in every policy making and handling COVID-19 pandemic from the beginning until now. Those are transparency, collaboration, and openness to the new things to handle COVID-19.
"We in Jakarta hold the principles in navigation. First is transparency and we uphold that principle. We also need collaboration with all parties and the third is the willingness to open our mind to continue learning new things because this is a new type of pandemic and this is the first time we experience it in the history," he said at Jakarta City Hall, as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Release, on Thursday (9/3).
Thus he believes that people's participation is very important to fight COVID-19 in Jakarta. One of them is to implement 3M by wearing mask in public spaces, washing hands with soap, and maintaining safe distance, as well as analyzing data related to the pandemic.
"We are looking forward to all of them, both public participation and collaboration, from each individuals, institutions that come to us with creative ideas, creative solutions to fight and overcome these challenges together," he asserted.
On this occasion, he also promoted corona.jakarta.go.id, a website managed by Jakarta Government that provided updated COVID-19 information in Jakarta. That platform can be accessed by public and international communities since it is a multi-lingual website.
"International communities can access it and we may be able to say that, this is probably the most comprehensive data regarding COVID-19 in this country," he stated.
By building a cooperation to improve information data platform related to COVID-19, he ensured data collected by Jakarta Government will further develop and and later it can be used as a basis for policy making related to COVID-19 control in Jakarta.
"Then, now with financial support, LaporCOVID-19 comes up with lots of good ideas and we are pleased that the pandemic vulnerability index is developing and we hope it will be our main instruments in navigating the challenges to overcome the pandemic," he conveyed.
Meanwhile, the British Ambassador to Indonesia, Owen Jenkins stated the full support of British Embassy to participate and collaborate in overcoming COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia.
"The data-based indicator is very important as the recommendation for government in making decision to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic. The British Embassy in Jakarta supports LaporCOVID-19 collaboration with Jakarta Government thus their expertise can develop the Pandemic Vulnerability Index (PVI) for Jakarta and give a contribution through research based on data which collected from the innovative LaporCOVID-19 platform," he said.
Meanwhile, LaporCOVID-19 Team Leader, Irma Hidayana also appreciated the completeness of Jakarta Government's data related to COVID-19 thus her side expected after launching, this project can improve the capabilities and details of the data.
"Jakarta is one of the most progressive province in the aspect of transparency and completeness of COVID-19 data. The province has detailed COVID-19 data. It is very important for policy makers and public to understand and respond to the current pandemic situation," she mentioned.
