Jakarta Empowerment, Children Protection and Population Control (PPAPP) Agency collaborated with Save The Children to hold socialization virtually with theme of RTPRA Referral in Violence Cases Against Children.

This socialization was held on September 7-11 with total participants around 1,300 people consisted of TP PKK, Dasa Wisma cadres, Community-based Integrated Child Protection (PATBM) administrators, RPTRA administrators, RT/RW administrators in 5 municipalities of Jakarta.

Jakarta PPAPP Agency Head, Tuty Kusumawati conveyed, all sides have responsibility in fulfilling children's rights and providing protection for them. Therefore, this activity is not only aimed PPAPP and PRTRA, but also other communities such as PKK and PATBM activists.

According to her, RPTRA administrators, PKK cadres and community have a role as the front guard in protecting children in the society.

"It becomes our responsibility to guide anyone who has problems, especially those related to violence against women and children, in accordance with proper procedures thus they get the right assistance," she explained, Thursday (9/10).

During the pandemic, new lifestyle and habits affected all people, including families and children. Limitation of space and movement that children facing should be dealt together.

RPTRA, school, and playground are still closed because children have high potential for exposure to COVID-19.

"Even though it is closed, child protection should continues, complaint post shouldn't close. During the pandemic, Jakarta P2TP2A Unit still receives complaints and handles cases of violence against women and children with various adjustment that comply with health protocols," she added.

From a survey conducted by non-governmental organization that is also a partner of Jakarta Government, it was stated that about 6,000 children in North Jakarta and East Jakarta showed that only 50% of them who knew and aware of child protection services.

"Through this socialization, we hope the referral system from community can be realized through RPTRA and as many as possible, RPTRA administrators and local residents can also provide information and refer them to report if violence occurs, especially against children," she stated.
