Japanese Ambassador Conveys His Appreciation for MRT Phase 2 Project

Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia, Masafumi Ishii visited MRT Phase 2 construction site at Thamrin Station. He
also accompanied by Head Representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for Indonesia, Yamanaka Shinichi.I hope this cooperation will continue to run well even in the pandemic situation
PT. MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) President Director, William Sabandar and PT. MRT Jakarta Construction Director, Silvia Halim also welcomed their arrival.
"This project is a symbol of friendship between Japanese and Indonesian governments. I hope this cooperation will continue to run well even in the pandemic situation," said Ishii at the location, Thursday (9/10).
Here is One of MRT's Biggest Challenges in Phase 2 ConstructionPT. MRT Jakarta President Director, William Sabandar conveyed his gratitude to the Japanese Government and development agency.
"JICA has supported the work of MRT Jakarta Phase 2 project from Bundaran HI to Kota. This project is also a symbol of cooperation between Indonesian and Japanese governments through collaboration of Central Government and Jakarta Government and it is carried out during the COVID-19 pandemic. Hopefully this project will drive our nation out of crisis in overcoming the pandemic," he conveyed.
According to him, MRT Jakarta project has an important value in helping the recovery of national economic due to the pandemic. Referring to the press conference of Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan, on Wednesday (9/9), the governor said the MRT construction activities are included in 11 vital business sectors that are allowed to run with minimum capacity.
"Even though this project is carried out in a pandemic situation, we ensure it to be carry out with a high standard of health protocols," he asserted.
At the construction site, Ambassador Ishii had an opportunity to have direct conversation with workers' representatives. He advised every worker to always maintain their health and apply health protocols well until the job is completed.
For information, MRT Phase 2 construction project for CP 201 (contract package) has started since June 15, 2020. This contract package will later build a tunnel from Bundaran HI Station to Harmoni Sation and build two stations namely Thamrin and Monas Station. According to plan, those two stations will start operating in March 2025.
