Youths and Students on Tidung Island Join to Sort Waste from Love Bridge Area

Youths and students on Tidung Island, South Thousand Islands who are members of 1000 island 1000 stories are joining PPSU members to remove solid waste, mostly plastics, from the Love Bridge, popularly known as Jembatan Cinta and residential area in the context of the Big Event the World Clean Up Day, which falls every September 19.

Those were from Karang Taruna youth groups, Jejak Seribu, Thousand Islands Student Forum (FMKS) and students of SMKN 61, MA PKU Tidung Island and SMAN 69.

She expressed that the heavy rain this morning did not stop the participants from helping sort waste and picking up waste from the seabed around the bridge area by utilizing vacant tourist locations during the PSBB period.

"Plastic waste that cannot be recycled is used for eco-bricks, while wood and leaf waste are used as fertilizer," he explained.

He urged locals to reduce the use of single-used plastic and starting waste sorting from home to make it easier for officers to transport.

"Waste clean-up action on the beach and seabed will continue until this afternoon," she stated.
