Thousand Islands LH Distributes 113 Sorting Waste Bags

Thousand Islands Environment (LH) Sub-agency distributed 113 sorting waste bags to the shop owners in Tidung Island Urban Village, South Thousand Islands.

Sorting waste bags distributed to all shops in 4 RWs of Tidung Islands

Thousand Islands LH Sub-agency Head, Djoko Rianto Budi Hartono mentioned, by distributing waste bags for sorting purpose, his side wanted to educate people that waste should be sorted from the source.

"Sorting waste bags distributed to all shops in 4 RWs of Tidung Islands. With this, we want to educate shop owners to sort waste from the source," he conveyed, Thursday (7/9).

Walhi Jakarta Appreciates City for Implementing KBRL Policy

According to him, janitors will take the sorted waste once every three or seven days, depend on the volume.

"At the fastest, we take the sorted waste every three days, but no longer than a week. Later it will be sorted again at waste bank," he said.

From 4 RWs in Tidung Island, sorted waste collection at the waste bank in forms of plastic waste or packaging could reach 22 kilograms a day.

"3R personnel usually transform plastic waste into ecobrick or recycled decoration, while the rest is sold to the collectors," he closed.
