Transjakarta Electric Buses Have Met Operational Standards

After being tested for three months from July 6 to October 6, 2020, the EV1 electric bus was considered to meet Jakarta operational standards.

PT. Transjakarta Corporate Secretary and Public Relation Division Head, Nadia Diposanjoyo conveyed, trial period of two EV1 electric buses has ended today.

"This trial is carried out to follow up Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 55/2020 concerning the Acceleration of Battery Electric Vehicle for Road Transportation and Gubernatorial Instruction No/ 66/2019 concerning Air Quality Control and Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub)'s Decree No. 76/2020 concerning Assignment of PT. Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) to extend electric buses trial," he said.
Both buses have long battery life with distance up to 250 kilometers before the battery should be recharged in less than four hours a day. In addition, those two buses also have other advantages such as not causing pollution, low maintenance costs, long battery life and green city concept which is in line with the ideal city of Jakarta.
"These electric buses received high enthusiasm from customers, where it was recorded to serve 100 people a day, especially ahead of PSBB re-implementation," she explained.
During the trial, those electric buses had satisfactory evaluation results both in terms of service and engine, including battery life.
Currently, she added, both PT. Transjakarta and PT. Bakrie Autoparts are still waiting for direction from Jakarta Dishub for the full use of electric buses in Jakarta.
Here are specifications from two electric buses that have been tested:
1. Type K9
- Has dimensions of 12 meters long, 2.5 meters wide and 3.3 meters high.
- Equipped with an AC Synchronous motor and a BYD Iron-Phospate battery with capacity of 324 kWh.
2. Type C6
- Has smaller dimensions with length of 7,403 mm, width of 2,140 mm, and weight of 3.4 meters.
- Equipped with an Iron-Phospate battery with capacity of 135 kWH.
