Onrust Island is Now Reopened to Public, Let's Explore It!

The Archaeological National Park of Onrust Island, Untung Jawa Island Urban Village, South Thousand Islands Sub-district, Thousand Islands has been reopened to public after Jakarta Government re-enacted Transitional Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) policy starting Monday (10/12).

Moreover, visitors can also visit Kelor Island and Cipir Island since those islands located near the island

Jakarta Maritime Museum Management Unit Head, Berkah Shadaya stated, tourists who want to visit Onrust Island should adhere to health protocols to prevent COVID-19 transmission.

"Let's travel to Onrust Island safely and healthily. Moreover, visitors can also visit Kelor Island and Cipir Island since those islands located near the island," he mentioned, Tuesday (10/13).

Tourism Sector in Thousand Islands Should Implement Health Protocols

He explained, visitors who want to travel to Thousand Islands are required to wear masks, wash their hands in hand washing facilities that have been provided, check body temperature before entering tourist site, and maintain distance with the others.

"Maximum boat's capacity is 50 percent of normal condition. It is applied to avoid crowd on the boat and ensure passengers to implement physical distancing," he said.

In order to anticipate COVID-19 spread, his side cooperates with North Jakarta and Thousand Islands Fire Handling and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-agency to sterilize tourist facilities and infrastructures on the islands.

"We need good cooperation from tourism sector managements and visitors to comply with health protocols thus COVID-19 transmission can be prevented," he closed.
