Demo Buruh, Lalin Depan Balaikota Tersendat

Labors Demonstration, Traffic in Front of City Hall Bogged Down

Hundreds of labors once again stage demonstration in front of the City Hall, Thursday (10/23). As a result, traffic congestion cannot be avoided along Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, precisely from Tani Monument until Jalan MH Thamrin.

Until now there is still no road closure, but we’ll see the situation in the field

“We have negotiated with the protesters to give two lanes for passing vehicles. 20 police officers are deployed to regulate the traffic on Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan. Until now there is still no road closure, but we’ll see the situation in the field,” stated Central Jakarta Resort Police Traffic Unit Chief AKBP Sakat.

Based on beritajakarta.com observations, the motorists passing in front of the City Hall had to slow down their vehicle when passing in front of the City Hall. This is because the road is narrowed from four lanes to two lanes starting from in front of Vice President’s office.

Workers Besiege City Hall, Demanding UMP Raise

As known, this demonstration is now entering the third day. The labors demand Jakarta Provincial Government to recalculate the 2014 standard cost of living (KHL). They assessed that all this time there is an error in KHL calculation conducted by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS).
