KPKP Agency Conducts Food Products in Huge Supermarkets

Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security (KPKP) Agency, conducted monitoring on fresh food commodities at huge supermarkets, Jalan Gunung Sahari Raya, Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta.

Jakarta KPKP Agency Acting Head Suharini Eliawati said it was held through sample testing in order to find out whether the food was free of hazardous substances such as pesticide residues, formaldehyde, heavy metals, chlorine and dyes.
She detailed that the fisheries products that are supervised and tested were various types of marine fish such as shrimp, squid, fish meatballs, fish dumplings and other processed fishery products.
KPKP Provides Animals Health Drive Thru ServiceAs for agricultural products tested were namely cabbage, potatoes, carrots, leeks, celery, shallots, garlic, green bird's eye chilies, red bird's eye chilies, curly chilies, TW/big red chilies, green beans, mustard greens, edamame beans, tomatoes, watercress, spinach, kale, string beans, onions, imported apples, imported oranges, imported grapes and rice.
While for animal products were namely beef, chicken meat, chicken liver, chicken gizzard, ground beef, ground chicken and others.
"Of the 30 samples, they all are safe from hazardous substances," she told.
She went on to say that it was carried out by organoleptic tests. As a result, all food was in fresh and good condition thus they could be consumed.
Nevertheless this action would be intensively held amid the COVID-19 pandemic, which aimed to ensure food safety for the citizens.
By so, Jakartans need not worry, as fresh food circulating and traded in the Jakarta area was guaranteed to be monitored and safe.
"This is the city administration's commitment in ensuring food safety for residents," she stressed.
