Dozens of Private Cars in Jakarta Undergo Free Emission Test

The free emission test held at the Environment Agency office, Jalan Mandala V, Cililitan, East Jakarta attracted dozens of vehicles. They have queued since this service was opened.

According to Andono, Agency Head of Jakarta Environment, his side managed to absorb 24 private cars during the emission test. They consisted of 6 diesel-fueled vehicles and 18 petrol vehicles.

"Emission test is a measurement of motor vehicle exhaust gas to detect vehicle engine performance. By so it can save fuel, optimize the power of the car engine and make the environment healthier because of the clean air," he said, Tuesday (11/3).

Jakarta LH Agency Holds Free Emission Test Until December

Besides supporting the realization of the Jakarta Langit Biru program, it was also in accordance with Gubernatorial Regulation number 66/2020 on Motor Vehicle Exhaust Emission Testing.

It was expected to motivate residents to participate and contribute to protecting air quality. By testing emissions, the owners would know the levels of dangerous substances for the environment.

"There are seven steps to control air quality, how do we continue to strive to maintain better air quality, one of which is to tighten vehicle emission tests," he said.

As for the information, the free emission test has been ongoing since November 3 and will end by the end of this year. It opens every Tuesday and Thursday at 10 AM to 2 PM.
