160 Ontel Bicycle Lovers Enliven Go PSBB Event

In the event, there are 160 people who are members of the ontel bicycle community participating in the event. Most of them are from and outside Jakarta.

One of participants from Tangerang, Wahyu (24) came from his house to Monas, Central Jakarta, cycling his ontel together with his friends to participate in this event.

"I am a fan of this old bicycle (ontel) since I was in the 1st grade of SMP, I have two. This is my first time participating in a cycling event in Jakarta. Besides exercising to increase immunity, we can get to know other members of the ontel bicycle community," he told.

Padepokan Dakwah Sunan Kalijaga Chairman Syarif Rahmat said the event had the meaning of simplicity and togetherness.

"The idea is simple to revive our simple and shared lives. So there is no reason not to be happy here," he stated.

Jakarta Youth and Sports Agency Head Achmad Firdaus uttered it was also aimed to celebrate the Heroes' Day and to promote sports by cycling.

He explained that ontel bicycles are full of historical value, as national figures and predecessors used bicycles as their means of transportation.

"We want to invite people to ride bicycles and increase immunity. In order to match the event's theme, the pandemic will end quickly," he stated.
