Last Year's Fire Cases in Jakarta Decreased Significantly

The case is down about 31 percent from last year, this is decreasing as we continue to do socialization in the community

The Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Agency has noted that fire cases in 2020 decreased significantly from the previous year.

Jakarta Gulkarmat Agency Head Satriadi Gunawan said that there were 1,501 cases in 2020 and 2,183 cases in 2019.

Electricity Short-circuit Dominates Fire Cases in West Jakarta

"The case is down about 31 percent from last year, this is decreasing as we continue to do socialization in the community," he said, Tuesday (1/12).

The total cases were spread across five cities and Thousand Islands Regency. They were in South Jakarta (396 cases), followed by East Jakarta (349 cases), West Jakarta (322 cases), North Jakarta-Thousand Islands (264 cases), and Central Jakarta (160 cases).

Then the fire was more caused by electricity short-circuit (934 cases).

"Last year, this disaster left five officers injured, 18 residents died and 79 residents were injured. Because of that we continue to intensify the socialization of fire prevention as early as possible," he stated.
