Some 10 personnel of Matraman Sub-district blue troops, East Jakarta have been alerted to dredge the 250-meter long on Jalan Siaga Raya RW 01 Palmeriam Urban Village.

Matraman Sub-district Water Resources (SDA) Task Force Coordinator Agus Sutono said, the dredging had been ongoing since last week. It was carried out to minimize flooding when rain poured.

"Every day we send 10 personnel to the location considering the condition is alarming already," he said, Tuesday (2/2).

According to him, it was done manually using hoes, shovels, crowbars, dustpan and others.

"Personnel have to work hard to transport mud up to 50 to 100 centimeters thick," he explained.

To transport the drained mud, he uttered, his party prepared 500 plastic sacks every day.

"It is targeted to be complete in two weeks," he stated.
