Rain in Jakarta and its surrounding areas caused inundation and flooding in several locations. Based on BPBD Jakarta data, until 12:00 on Monday (2/8), total 42 RWs and 150 RTs in East Jakarta and South Jakarta were flooded. In percentage, 0.492 percent of total 30,470 RTs in Jakarta were affected by flood.
High rainfall in upstream causes Sunter River and Ciliwung River to overflow
BPBD Jakarta Acting Head (Plt) Chief Executive, Sabdo Kurnianto explained, there were 4 sub-districts and 7 urban villages consist of 17 RWs and 28 RTs in South Jakarta flooded with water level of 40-190 centimeters. Total 30 families or 304 people were evacuated.
Vice Governor Urges Residents to Work Together to Prevent FloodsIn East Jakarta, 25 RWs and 112 RTs flooded as high as 40-275 centimeters. Total 193 families or 725 people evacuated in 14 evacuation posts.
"High rainfall in upstream causes Sunter River and Ciliwung River to overflow. Thus residents who live around the river are affected by the overflow. There are no casualties in this incident. Personnel are deployed from Water Resources (SDA) Agency, Fire Handling and Rescue (Gulkarmat), and urban village PPSU to handle flood thus it recedes quickly. While areas which inundated due to local rain in Jakarta have receded," he explained as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Release.
BPBD Jakarta had distributed assistance such as inner tubes/buoys, mattresses, blankets, cloth masks, mineral water, and children's needs.
