Rawa Belong Flower Traders' Income Increases in Chinese New Year

Due to high demand of flowers in Chinese New Year (locally known as Imlek), flower traders at Rawa Belong Flower Market, West Jakarta, experienced a drastic increase in income. Moreover, flower traders are also facilitated by Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture, and Food Security (KPKP) Agency's Center for Promotion and Certification of Agricultural Products (PPSHP) as the manager of Rawa Belong Flower Market to hold Online Flower Bazaar on February 10-14, 2021.

Traders' daily income for all cut flowers during the bazaar increased by 468 percent

Jakarta KPKP Agency Acting Head (Plt), Suharini Eliawati mentioned, online flower bazaar will be held to support business development of small and medium businesses in Rawa Belong Flower Market during the pandemic.

"We hold Online Flower Bazaar to prevent crowds thus traders can trade safely and expand the market," he said, Friday (2/12).

On the other hand, Jakarta KPKP's PPSHP Head, Wati Mutia explained, traders' daily income for all cut flowers during the bazaar increased by 468 percent or nearly five times of normal days during the pandemic.

"Average income per day during the pandemic reaches Rp 53.41 million. While during the bazaar on February 10-11, average income per day reaches Rp 249.71 million," she mentioned.

According to her, tuberose are the most popular flower ahead of Chinese New Year. Because tuberose sales during online bazaar increased by 40 times from normal day during the pandemic.

"Tuberose sales on normal days reaches 900 stalks with average income per day reaches Rp 1.71 million. Ahead of Chinese New Year, tuberose sales increased to 13,800 stalks with income Rp 69 million per day," she informed.
