“The warehouse’s facilities and air circulation is not too good. It needs to be repaired, so the rice quality and also its price could be well maintained,” stated Trade Minister Rachmat Gobel when he visited Cipinang Rice Market, East Jakarta, Thursday (11/6).
According to him, one of the factors on rice price hike is affected by the condition of the warehouse. If its condition was good, the rice would last up to six months. Other things that also affect rice condition are the condition of infrastructures in distribution lines and the weather.
Abdul Gani Lokbin Needs RepairRegarding rice stock in Cipinang Rice Market, Gobel informed that it is enough for 13 days ahead since the daily rice supply is still stable, reaching 2,500-3,000 tons. The rice is supplied from West Java, Central Java, East Java, and Sulawesi, while 30 percent of the supply is distributed to outside Java.
“Rice stock lasts up to 6-7 months, including rice for the poor (raskin), market operation, and natural disasters. Thus, no
need to worry,” he told.In this occasion, Gobel was accompanied by Cooperatives and Small Enterprises Minister Anak Agung Gede Ngurah Puspayoga.
