The Thousand Islands Regency administration is socializing eco-friendly shopping bag usage at Kaliadem Port, Penjaringan, North Jakarta, which aims of celebrating the 2021 National Waste Care Day (HPSN) that falls every February 21.

Thousand Islands Economic and Development Division Head Endro Mukti Wibowo disclosed it was socialized to tourists and vessel passengers. Even the officers also held trash raids and exchanged plastic bags carried by passengers with eco-friendly shopping bags.

At the same time, Thousand Islands Environment Sub-agency Head, Djoko Rianto Budi said it was conducted to enforce the Gubernatorial Regulation number 77/2020 on Management of Waste Scope of RW and number 142/2019 on Obligation to Use Eco-friendly Shopping Bags at Shopping Centers, Stores, Supermarkets and Folk Markets.

"The raid results on plastic waste will be recycled for fuel oil and handicrafts," he stated.
