Central Jakarta Mayor Monitors Sentiong River Dredging Work

Central Jakarta Mayor, Dhany Sukma monitored mud dredging work or Gerebek Lumpur in Sentiong River, Johar Baru, on Wednesday (2/24).

Thank God, there are no more floods in here when it rained heavily in Jabodetabek last week

According to him, this mud dredging work has been carried out since February 2020 which involved PPSU, Water Resources (SDA), Environment Task Forces, and local residents.

"Thank God, there are no more floods in here when it rained heavily in Jabodetabek last week," he stated.

Permanent Channels will Be Built on South and North Sides of Jalan Boulevard Barat

Gerebek Lumpur was carried out with a good collaboration between residents and Central Jakarta Government.

"Activities which are completed according to the substance of problem give better impact according to the target," he mentioned.

He also encouraged Johar Baru residents to stop throwing garbage into Sentiong River since it could clog drains and cause flooding.

Cempaka Putih Sub-district Head, Nurhelmi Safitri mentioned, Sentiong River was dredged because the mud was very thick and caused silting.

"Silting can be reduced after dredging. Sentiong River now can hold more water," she said.
