Unoptimal Control, Illegal TPS in Cengkareng Rampant

An effort to eliminate illegal waste disposal site (TPS) in West Jakarta conducted by West Jakarta Administration is apparently unoptimal. Although officers have controlled illegal TPSs in Cengkareng Sub-District, yet its existence still leaves seven units.

According to Ali Maulana Hakim, Head of Cengkareng Sub-District, officers have difficulties to control seven illegal TPSs in Cengkareng. Among them are in RW 07 (Kedaung Kaliangke Urban Village), RW 03 and 05 (Cengkareng Barat Urban Village), RW 04 and 12 Rawabuaya Urban Village, as well as RW 01 and 04 (Kapuk Urban Village).
"I also see tens of formal TPSs stood atop at the site, comprising depots, container pools, concrete tank, and carts belongs to Jakarta Cleanliness Department," he expressed, Sunday (11/9).

Meanwhile, officers only transport waste once every day, either morning or afternoon. The reason is, distance between citizens residential with TPS is quite far. "That's why, many TPSs are exist in Cengkareng," he reported.
He acknowledged his side is still difficult to find empty land to be used as TPS. Along with Jakarta Cleanliness Department and West Jakarta Cleanliness Sub-Department, three eco-friendly depots are being prepared in the Residential Complex RW 12 Kapuk Urban Village, RW 05 Cengkareng Urban Village, and RW 15 Duri Kosambi Urban Village.
