Gubernur Anies Berharap DMI Dorong Lebih Banyak Masjid Ramah Lingkungan di Jakarta

Governor Anies Hopes DMI Pushes More Green Mosques in Jakarta

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, attended the inauguration of regional management on Jakarta's Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI) for period 2020 - 2025 held in a hybrid manner in the Jakarta City Hall Pattern Room, on Wednesday (3/17). The entire board was officially inaugurated by the DMI Chairman and former Vice President, Jusuf Kalla.

Hopefully they are able to put environmental problems as important problems to be resolved

The inauguration event began with the governor's speech by expressing his appreciation for the good cooperation and collaboration between the Jakarta administration and the Jakarta DMI Regional Management.

"Alhamdulillah we're grateful, our collective work is very good, close, and the problems we face can be quickly resolved with intensive communication and responsive ranks, hopefully we will be more solid in the future," stated the governor, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.

DMI Distributes 1,400 Cleaning Packages for Mosque Cleanliness

He hoped that the new administrators who passed through inauguration could promote a theme that was of concern to Jakarta and also the world, namely sustainable environmental management, which could be realized through green mosques.

"Hopefully they are able to put environmental problems as important problems to be resolved. The contribution of mosques in environmental management is very important," he explained.

He also hoped that more mosques in Jakarta would implement eco-friendly programs.

"Thereby the management can be an example, thus it will encourage the surrounding community to also be eco-friendly and being a reference for mosques in other places," he furthered.

He then gave an example of the use of water in mosques that could be managed wisely, for example, water used for ablution to water plants or be used for other purposes.

"In the mosque, we use water, and the use of water in Jakarta is one of the items that have an element of scarcity. Especially in places where clean water is limited, so there needs to be a solution. And we already have the guidelines, and we are ready to collaborate further," he explained.

As for the information, the administration was supporting and providing assistance to all houses of worship for all religions in the form of Operational Assistance for Places of Worship (BOTI).

"In Jakarta, we support all houses of worship, all religions in the BOTI program, the value is 2 million per month for large places of worship such as mosques and 1 million for small places of worship. Likewise with the religious workers, they got Rp 500,000 aid. So our hope is it becomes one of the supporters of religious activities and we want all to feel equality in worshiping in Jakarta," he explained.

In the meantime, DMI Chairman Jusuf Kalla fully supported the collaboration between the administration and DMI. He also advised that the mosque in the future would face more challenges thus the mosque and its management should participate in making solutions, including environmental problems.

"We must prosper mosques but the most important thing is the people. I would like to thank you for the participation and development of mosques in Jakarta," he concluded.
