Dishub Continues to Improve Permanent Bicycle Lanes on Jalan Sudirman-M.H. Thamrin

Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) continues to improve permanent bicycle lanes construction on Jalan Sudirman-M.H. Thamrin. It includes installing planter boxes which the current progress has reached 11.34 percent or 505 units from total target 4,454 units.

FGD aims to absorb ideas and input from various parties

Jakarta Dishub Head, Syafrin Liputo said his side together with several stakeholders continued to strengthen collaboration and coordination by holding focus group discussion (FGD).

"FGD aims to absorb ideas and input from various parties to improve and accelerate permanent bicycle lanes construction for Sudirman-Thamrin route," he explained, Friday (4/2).

After FGD, it continued with reviewing bicycle lanes that have been installed with planter boxes and not, green markings on bicycle lane, bicycle lane signs, and inscription work.

"We want adjustment in design thus it can proceed to physical work," he added.

According to him, vehicle lanes in Dukuh Atas will be shifted. From 5 lanes on east side into 4 lanes, while 1 lane will be shifted to the west side.

"We want permanent bicycle lanes construction to prioritize principle of lane consistency on Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin," he asserted.

He added, permanent bicycle lanes, both protected and unprotected (sharing), still require detailed study and inputs from all stakeholds. Thus bicycle lanes can be built perfectly.

"Several roads such as Jalan Prof. Dr. Satrio, Jalan Salemba, and Jalan Kramat Raya have the potential to be built protected bicycle lanes. In the future, we will conduct comprehensive study and receive input from all stakeholders," he conveyed.

For information, Jakarta Government plans to build 578.8 kilometers bicycle lanes until 2030.

In 2021, his side targeted to build 101.2 kilometers bicycle lanes consisting of 34.1 kilometers protected bicycle lanes and 67.1 kilometers unprotected or sharing lanes.
