PPAPP Intensifies Socialization on Prevention of Violence Against Women and Children

Jakarta Empowerment, Child Protection, and Population Control (PPAPP) Agency continues to provide information and educate people about prevention and handling violence against women and children.

We continue to intensify socialization by introducing them to women and children rights, as well as dangers of violence

In January-March 2021 period, Jakarta PPAPP Agency has carried out socialization on prevention of violence against women and children which held virtually with total 1,890 participants.

Jakarta PPAPP Agency Head, Tuty Kusumawati mentioned, this online socialization was carried out by various institutions and elements of society, including Religion Ministry, Sub-district BP4, TP PKK, Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP), health center (puskesmas), partner institutions/foundations, and cadres.

PPAPP is Committed to Provide Protection for Women and Children

"We continue to intensify socialization by introducing them to women and children rights, as well as dangers of violence. Thus each participants can participate actively in preventing violence in their environments," she explained, Monday (4/5).

Jakarta PPAPP Agency targeted 7,500 people to participate in online socialization on prevention of violence against women and children in this year.

"Generally, we provide material about role of community as our efforts in promoting child protection, partnership and collaboration, referral mechanism and service for violence against women and children (KtP/A) in health facilities in Jakarta. Besides, there are also materials given as an effort to fulfill KtP/A complaint service in terms of legal and psychological assistance.

According to her, Jakarta Government is committed to reduce number of violence against women and children in capital city. It was mentioned in 17 Action Plans for Regional Strategic Activities (KSD) No. 13 on Protection and Prevention of Violence Against Women and Children.

"This effort is carried out through collaboration with all related agencies, BUMD, private sectors, community, and police to realize integrated services for women and children," she said.

According to him, PPAPP Agency provides services for handling violence against women and children by providing integrated complaint channels, including Complaint Post in 19 Children-Friendly Integrated Public Spaces (RPTRAs), Jakarta Siaga Service 112, Integrated Service Center for Women and Children Empowerment (P2TP2A) Unit Hotline.

Residents who have experienced or have seen violence cases against women and children can also report directly to P2TP2A which is located on Jalan Bekasi Timur Raya KM 18, Pulogadung, East Jakarta.

"P2TP2A provides legal service, psychological service, referral assistance for health service and safe house, as well as return and social reintegration for victims," she explained.

She urged people to have the courage to report acts of violence against women and children that occur at home and their environment because government guarantees security, confidentiality, legal protection, and support.

"Services for handling violence against women and children are given for free," she asserted.
