Tugu Selatan Waste Bank Collects 4,056 Kg of Plastic Waste

The Tugu Selatan Urban Village's Berkah 'Blessing' Waste Bank, North Jakarta continues to be consistent in its efforts to reduce waste including plastic packaging waste. Since January to March, they have managed to collect 6,165 kg of waste, where 4,056 kg of them are plastic waste.

Tugu Selatan Urban Village Head Sukarmin expressed the garbage collected were plastic, cardboard, junk, iron, paper waste and cooking oil or used cooking oil.

"Every month in the second week, the collected waste is then weighed and sold to collectors in Sunter," he expressed, Thursday (4/15).
He explained that the garbage collected at the Tugu Selatan waste bank came from waste banks located in a number of neighborhoods (RTs).
"The neighborhoods that have waste bank are RT 01/03, RT 04/02, RT 09/04, and RT 01/02 with 186 customers," he explained.
He also involved seven PPSU embers to managed the waste bank. He assessed, support from various parties such as the private sector, RT/RW administrators and residents played an important role in realizing Tugu Selatan bank waste as a barometer of cleanliness in Tugu Selatan Village.
"We want to make Tugu Selatan as a litter-free area including plastic waste for creating a clean and healthy environment," he closed.
