PPKM Mikro in Jakarta Extended to May 3 as Cases Spike

The Jakarta administration has extended the current period of micro-scale public activity restrictions (PPKM Mikro) for another two weeks until May 3, as efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19 in the capital continue, especially along Ramadan.

The case began to rise again

It was aimed to enforce the Governor Decree number 478/2021 ad Governor Call number 22/2021. Based on the data gathered, in the last two weeks, there was a fluctuating increase in active cases, where there were 6,075 active cases as of April 5 and increased to 6,924 active cases.

Seeing this matter, socialization on the importance of citizen health protocol discipline in public kept being carried out by Jakarta Health Agency Head, Widyastuti. She went on to say that the control of this pandemic was also accompanied by vaccinations that were consistently being carried out. The number of vaccination targets for stages 1 and 2 (health workers, elderly, and public servants) was 3,000,689 people. The total vaccination dose 1 was 1,641,932 people (54.7%) and the total vaccination dose 2 now reached 849,048 people (28.3%).

Aside that, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan once again called on all residents to always implement health protocols.

"Victory against this pandemic is in sight. But once again I remind you that we haven't won yet, so let's take responsibility to make this victory happen with 3M discipline," he asserted.

"Moreover, we have allowed you to perform tarawih prayer at mosque. But if the mosque is 50% filled, it is best to pray at home to prevent the risk of exposure," he asserted.
