Governor Anies Monitors COVID Vaccination for Art Workers at City Hall Building

Alhamdulillah the process has started and hopefully it will run smoothly and evenly

Jakarta Provincial Government holds the first stage of vaccination for art workers at Balai Agung, Jakarta City Hall, on Thursday (4/22), in conjunction with the second stage of vaccination for journalists and media workers.

It is a further step for the city government after the President, Joko Widodo, initiated vaccinations for art workers at the National Gallery on Monday (4/19).

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan disclosed the Culture Agency had coordinated with art associations to register artists thus they can get the COVID-19 vaccine.

"This vaccination facilitates all art workers. There are quite a lot of enthusiasts so we coordinate with the association of arts workers and the Jakarta Arts Council to collect and make a list of names of fellow art workers who can get vaccines. Alhamdulillah the process has started and hopefully it will run smoothly and evenly," he expressed, after he surveyed the vaccination for art workers, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.

He hoped that the vaccination program, which was targeted at 30,000 doses of vaccine would make the arts industry revive. Thus art workers could create works that bring benefits to society, especially to provide entertainment amid the pandemic.

"By so, they can work more freely and can return to create creations that benefit society, as the potential for exposure is suppressed through vaccines and disciplined health protocols," he stated.

He added it was part of advancing, to make the people of Jakarta happy, where all elements are one by one getting protection from COVID-19.

"The process will continue. This time at City Hall, but we will have vaccination sites in different regions. Thus, they can get vaccines more easily," he added.

One of the art workers as well as a singer, Raisa Andriana, stated that the music and art industry is one of the industries that has been quite badly affected by COVID-19 as it could hold shows or shoots.

"Maybe a lot of people who are impacted are not visible, as it's not just us who are on stage, but the entire industry," she uttered.

Then Senior comedian, Denny Chandra, expressed his appreciation to the city government and hoped that this activity could move the wheels of the economy, especially the arts and entertainment business.

"Hopefully it can be a way out for us to move the economy, especially in the field of entertainment, as art workers can work as before to produce useful work," he explained

He also reminded art workers who had been vaccinated still adhere to health protocols, as the risk of exposure was exist, but the impact was not as severe as those who have received vaccine.

"I remind you, if we have been vaccinated, we have to comply with health protocols, as the potential for exposure is still there. So, keep washing hands with soap, wearing masks, and keeping a distance," he stated.
