Tanjung Priok Terminal Temporarily Closes AKAP Bus Service

North Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency Head, Harlem Simanjuntak ensured intercity interprovincial (AKAP) bus service at Tanjung Priok Terminal, North Jakarta is closed during the implementation of Homecoming Ban policy on May 6-17, 2021.

On the first day, the condition is good. It tends to have no passenger at Tanjung Priok Terminal

On the first day of Homecoming Ban enactment, Tanjung Priok AKAP Bus Terminal looks deserted compared to normal days.

"We see the condition and ensure Tanjung Priok Terminal has been temporarily closed  for AKAP bus service," he stated during the monitoring at Tanjung Priok Terminal, Thursday (5/6).

According to him, this policy was carried out as an implementation of COVID-19 Task Force Circular Letter (SE) No. 13/2021 regarding Eid al-Fitr 1442 Hijri Homecoming Ban and Efforts to Control COVID-19 Transmission During Holy Month of Ramadan 1442 Hijri.

"On the first day, the condition is good. It tends to have no passenger at Tanjung Priok Terminal," he said.

He explained that Tanjung Priok Terminal still provides buses with Jabodetabek routes. All AKAP bus services at Tanjung Priok Terminal are diverted to Pulo Gebang Terminal, East Jakarta, with strict health protocol.

"Jakarta Government has appointed Kalideres and Pulo Gebang Terminals to provide AKAP bus services. But it depends on traveler's purpose," he said.

Tanjung Priok Terminal Head, Muzofar Surya Alam conveyed, AKAP service is temporarily closed, but there are few buses that travel around Jabodetabek that are still allowed to operate at Tanjung Priok Terminal.

"Tanjung Priok Terminal only serves buses for Jabodetabek destinations," he added.

His side deployed 20 personnel to guard entrance and exit gates of Tanjung Priok AKAP Bus Terminal and closed it with crossbar.

"We have socialized it before, both to bus operators, bus administrators, and passengers. We have done it a long time ago, even 12 days before closing AKAP bus service temporarily," he informed.

He hopes people can obey to government regulations regarding Eid homecoming ban. Because it is done as an effort to suppress COVID-19 transmission.

"It is better to be at home than participating in spreading virus from Jakarta to areas where no one guarantees that we are virus spreaders or not. We are exposed to COVID-19 or not. So, it would be better to follow government's policy to stay at home," he asserted.
