MRT Jakarta Pursues Seamless Public Transit Integration in Lebak Bulus

PT MRT Jakarta has said they are developing the transit oriented development (TOD) project on a 78.5-hectare land in Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta. It will carry the theme Gerbang Suar (Beacon Gate) Jakarta.

It has a variety of potentials

It is made with the vision of realizing the movement of the availability of public space to strengthen the system of connecting between lands within the integrated area on new development lands with various transit facilities in South Jakarta.

PT MRT Jakarta's Business Development Director, Farchad Mahfud said that the infrastructure in the form of pedestrians around the Lebak Bulus MRT station including a park & ride for private vehicles had been built.

Including other infrastructures such as the Transit Plaza and the Lebak Bulus MRT Station - Point Square Interconnection were also being carried out.

"It has a variety of potentials, including the creation of approximately 1.5 hectares of parks and open spaces, six kiss and ride points, namely areas that can be used by vehicle users to drop off. Then is 8.2-km pedestrian route, MRT Jakarta intermodal transit, Transjakarta and buses," he expressed, Friday (5/21).

According to him, various regional development strategies were carried out in the development and management of the Lebak Bulus oriented area, as follows:

1. Integrating the public transportation system with the entire Land Planning to support easy and convenient transit and intermodal transfer activities

2. Improving the quality of public spaces to encourage the movement of people and provide an engaging spatial experience towards transit points

3. Integrating the pedestrian spine concept with the building mass layout concept and the micro land use concept along the axis corridor

4. Developing pedestrian-friendly areas and optimize the pedestrian linkage that allows people to walk comfortably and safely

5. Developing the concept of utilization and control of public space along the transit movement paths to suit the character of the area and in accordance with the city plan

"This is expected to become a magnet for commuters from buffer areas such as South Tangerang, which have a lot of activities in Jakarta," he stated.
