Nine Semi-permanent Buildings on Kali Ciliwung River Torn Down

Prior to demolishment, we already have a meeting and give compensation to the building owners amounting to Rp 10 million per building

A joint personnel from Menteng Sub-district, Central Jakarta, demolished nine semi-permanent buildings stood atop the Kali CIliwung River, RT 07/RW 01 Pegangsaan Urban Village, precisely behind the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) building.

Menteng Sub-district Vice Head, Supryogi disclosed that it was conducted as those illegal buildings were built a land owned by Jakarta Bina Marga Agency, which had been borrowed to RSCM for the expansion of public health services. The land would be transformed into a medical waste treatment.

"Prior to demolishment, we already have a meeting and give compensation to the building owners amounting to Rp 10 million per building," he explained.

Moreover, the meeting had been carried out in early Ramadan and the owners had agreed it.

RW 07 Pegangsaan Chairman Muhammad Rizal justified that those owners had received compensation from the hospital management.

"The building owner has been given time to demolish the building themselves," he stated.
