Ahead of Jakarta's 494th Anniversary, number of strategic locations in Untung Jawa Island Urban Villages, South Thousand Islands Sub-district, Thousand Islands were beautified with mural paintings.

"We want to celebrate Jakarta's 494th Anniversary with joy by arranging the area thus it looks more beautiful, clean and comfortable. Moreover, it is tourist destination area," he explained, Wednesday (6/2).
Ahead of City's Anniversary, Pari Island Continues to Invoke Jakarta CollaborationHe mentioned, through collaboration with Pertamina Patra Niaga, there are several locations which decorated with mural paintings, namely Transportation Agency (Dishub) Pier, Urban Village Office, Arsa Park, Kampung Jepang (Japanese Village), Rainbow Bridge, Fire Post, SDN 01 Pulau Untung Jawa school yard, and SMPN 285 Pulau Untung Jawa school yard.
"Mural paintings are made using various themes by local urban village PPSU personnel," he said.
There are several themes used for mural painting, such as Jakarta City of Collaboration, Japanese woman art, and Japanese ornaments for Japanese Village; marine biota in Rainbow Bridge, Dishub Pier, and several mural paintings on school walls and fences, urban villages, and main roads.
"We hope those mural paintings can enliven Jakarta Anniversary and attract more tourists to visit Untung Jawa Island," he closed.
