Harga BBM Naik, Awak Angkutan Umum di Jakbar Juga Naikkan Tarif

YLKI: Raising Tariff Unilaterally Violates Act No. 8/1999

Increase in public transport tariff post fuel (BBM) price hike raise is assessed illegal since conducted without Jakarta Provincial Government’s approval. Thus, Jakarta Transportation Department is asked to resolve the matter by giving sanction to public transportation crews who raise their tariff unilaterally.

Raising tariff unilaterally is categorized as an illegal action. It violates Act No. 8/1999 about Consumer Protection

“Raising tariff unilaterally before there is decision from Jakarta Provincial Government is a great violation. For that, Jakarta Transportation Department should have given firm sanction,” stated Daily Officer of Indonesia Consumer Foundation (YLKI), Tulus Abadi, Wednesday (11/19).

According to Abadi, although fuel price hike automatically increases the operational costs, public transport crews as well as entrepreneurs must not raise tariff unilaterally. This is because such a thing violates Act No. 8/1999 about Consumer Protection.
