City Public Transport Hikes Rp 1,000

The meeting held by Jakarta Transportation Department together with Land Transportation Organization (Organda) and Jakarta Transportation Council, Wednesday (11/19), decided that public transport tariff is hiked Rp 1,000. The regulation is valid for mikrolet, medium city bus, and big city bus.

The result will be submitted to the governor. So it can be applied through governor regulation

The decision is based on some consideration such as fuel price, spare parts price such as tire, oil and etc.

Jakarta Head Transportation Department, Muhammad Akbar, said the meeting result will be submitted to Jakarta Governor Basuki T. Purnama.

"The result will be submitted to the governor. So it can be applied through governor regulation," Akbar said.

Meanwhile, Jakarta Organda Head, Safruhan Sinungan, hoped the governor processes the suggestion as soon as possible. It is aimed to avoid passenger's complaint.

"Many passengers complaining illegal tariff which increased from Rp 1,500 to Rp 2,000. We hope the valid tariff can be issued soon," he hoped.

Sinungan appealed to all public transport operator to wait the new tariff regulation issued by the governor.

"The tariff violation can be reported to city transportation department," he added.
