Latest Information on COVID-19 Cases and Vaccination in Jakarta as of July 8, 2021

Jakarta Government continues to control COVID-19 pandemic. Not only implementing 3T, COVID-19 vaccination is also being promoted to priority groups. However, community participation is still needed to remain disciplined in implementing health protocols.

Total it reached 102,082 active cases as of today

Given that COVID-19 vaccination can only reduce the impact of exposure, there is still a possibility of COVID-19 transmission if people don't follow health protocols. It can be seen from positive cases that are still fluctuating and now tend to increase. It needs cooperation from all sides to break the transmission chain.

Jakarta Health Agency's Disease Prevention and Control Division Head, Dwi Oktavia stated, based on the latest data from Jakarta Health Agency, PCR test has been carried out to 41,214 specimens. From that amount, 26,789 specimens have been tested today to diagnose new cases with total of 12,974 positive results and 13,815 negative results. Besides, Antigen test was also conducted to 5,085 people with 1,119 positive results and 3,966 negative results.

"Therefore, it is important for parents to take better care of their children and avoid going outside with children. As much as possible, please do activities at home with your children, because positive cases in children is still high," she conveyed, as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Release.

She mentioned that WHO is targeting to test 1,000 people using PCR per one million population per week (not specimens), meaning that WHO target for Jakarta is at least 10,645 people should be tested per week. "This target has been exceeded by Jakarta for some time. In the past week, 171,810 people were tested using PCR. While number of people tested for PCR in Jakarta has now reached 433,134 per million population," she explained.

Moreover, for total confirmed cases in Jakarta as of today reached 623,277 cases. It should be noted that positive antigen test results in Jakarta were not included in total positive cases because all were reconfirmed by PCR.

From total positive cases, 512,085 people recovered with recovery rate of 82.2% and 9,110 people died with mortality rate of 1.5%. While mortality rate in Indonesia reached 2.6%

The imposed sanctions are in form of social work, fines, temporary suspension of activity, and revocation of business license.
