Setu Babakan Betawi Cultural Village in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta and Untung Jawa Island, Thousand Islands managed to enter Top 50 of Indonesian Tourism Village Award (ADWI) 2021.

Jakarta Culture Agency Head, Iwan Henry Wardhana mentioned, those two destinations entered the Top 50 of ADWI 2021 after going through a series of long curation process.

"Thank God, thanks to support and collabo ration from all parties, Setu Babakan Betawi Cultural Village (PBB) and Untung Jawa Island entered and passed the third stage of selection, meaning to become Top 50 from total 1,831 participants," he said, Wednesday (8/25).

He explained that Setu Babakan Betawi Cultural Village and Untung Jawa Island had indeed been prepared to become a leading cultural tourism destination and cultural-based nature tourism in Jakarta prior the awarding.

Jakarta Tourism Agency had prepared these two tourist destinations to pass all criteria that were contested at Indonesian Tourism Village Award 2021. Those seven criteria are Homestay, Toilet, Tourist Attraction, CHSE, Souvenir, Digital Village, and Creative Content.

"There is no special preparation. Currently, we are strengthening and giving a touch of innovation, creation, and collaboration. We hope that we will get one or more awards from the seven criteria contested,"

He said that tourism village is a fulfillment of all tourism elements that have potential attractions, including natural tourism, cultural tourism, and man-made tourism in certain area which supported by attractions, accommodation, and other facilities which is in accordance with local wisdom.

"Setu Babakan Betawi Cultural Village Development as Tourism and Cultural Village by Culture Agency is carried out in a sustainable process according to principles of preserving cultural heritage. Tourism village is not only a physical building, but it also re-glorifies etiquette and cultural resilience in people of Jakarta," he said.

Setu Babakan Betawi Cultural Village Management Head, Imron conveyed, his side had prepared this excellent tour internally and externally. Internally, by aligning perceptions and visions that build a culture is not an ordinary job, but an extraordinary work. While externally, PBB Setu Babakan Management Unit embraces community leaders, community organizations, RT/RW administrators, and other community elements.

"We have a tough task in building character of the community in this cultural destination area with mandate to protect, foster, develop, and provide benefits. Building a cultural destination means to build collaboration with the community," he asserted.

For information, the next series of ADWI 2021 will be reviewed and assessed directly by Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy and juries.
