As many as five parks and green belts in North Jakarta are in poor condition due to normalization project drains and rivers which is currently underway. Those consist of Sindang Park and Plumpang Green Belt (Koja Sub-District), Jalan Yos Sudarso's Green Belt, Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan's Green Belt (Kelapagading Sub-District) and Sunter Agung Barat's Green Belt (Tanjung Priok). Ironically, about 1,500 trees were cut down to smoothen normalization project.
Responding on this matter, Head of Green Belt Section, North Jakarta Parks Sub-Department, Agustine disclosed that his sub-department has asked the project implementer to prepare compensation for repairing the damaged parks and green belts.

He furthered, such damaged parks and green belts will be repaired gradually.
Head of North Jakarta Parks Sub-Department, Muhammad Fajar Sauri added he had coordinated with the North Jakarta Water Management Public Works Sub-Department, Jakarta Public Works Department, and Public Works Ministry regarding repair work in post-normalization project.
"Honestly, the normalization project is very disturbing. However, all must be repaired after the normalization project is done," he stressed.
