Two heavy equipment consisting of long arm and amphibious dredger were deployed by East Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency to dredge Pekayon Retention Basin (Embung) in Pekayon Urban Village, Pasar Rebo.
Dredging is carried out with varying depths between 3-5 meters
East Jakarta SDA Sub-agency's Maintenance Section Head, Puryanto conveyed, Pekayon Retention Basin which covers an area around two hectares had been dredged since two and a half months ago. The work is targeted to be completed next month.
"Dredging is carried out with varying depths between 3-5 meters, thus retention basin has more capacity to hold water discharge," he explained, Wednesday (9/15).
According to him, mud and soil which dredged from the location will be used to build inspection road on the sides of retention basin.
Moreover, his side will also build embankment to restrain and control water flow that leads to Gongseng connecting (Phb) channel.
"We take this step as an effort to anticipate flooding in Pekayon area," he said.
