Jakarta BPBD Warned about Peak Rainfall

The Jakarta chapter of the Natural Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) has prepared to face the peak of the rainy season, which is predicted to hit early 2022, according to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

Jakarta BPBD Acting Head, Sabdo Kurnianto said, it was necessary to prepare early on various efforts related to disaster prevention, mitigation and management.

"The rain has started to fall, handling floods and puddles is a shared responsibility and effort. We hope the heavy rain doesn't have a bad impact. However, we need to be prepared," he expressed, when he led the Technical Coordination Meeting for the Implementation of Apples Facing the Rainy Season at the Jakarta Provincial Level, Thursday (10/7).

He explained, the preparedness ceremony for the rainy season would be held at Silang Monas, Gambir, Central Jakarta on October 13.

"There will be around 1,500 joint personnel from local government organizations (OPD) under Jakarta administration, army/police, social institutions/foundations, including colleges/universities. Even, a number of supporting facilities and infrastructure will also be demonstrated to ensure, whether they are ready or not," he explained.

He ensured that all elements of society would be involved and participate in disaster management in Jakarta, especially during the rainy season. He said, the various preparations that had been done from a long time ago were expected to reduce the negative impact of high rainfall.

"Through collaboration, coordination and good communication, we will be safe from disasters. This disaster problem will strengthen our togetherness. So, let's show that Jakarta Kuat, Jakarta Tangguh (Powerful Jakarta, Tough Jakarta)," he stated.
