In implementing integrated transportation system, Jakarta Government continues to provide convenience and comfort for residents in changing public transportation by arranging station areas.

Jakarta Government collaborates with all parties in providing integrated transportation concept

Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dis hub) Head, Syafrin Liputo said, Jakarta has four modes of mass public transportation services, namely KRL, LRT, MRT, and Transjakarta. According to him, stations arrangement is carried out to regulate transportation and spatial planning in station area, thus it can support the implementation of integrated transportation system.

"Jakarta Government collaborates with all parties in providing integrated transportation concept to regulate passengers flow and movement in using different modes of transportation. When seamless transportation is achieved, a complete integration will be created, both between transportation and spatial planning, as well as between transportation modes in the area," he mentioned, Friday (10/15).

Previously in Tanah Abang, there is no integration between modes of transportation and spatial planning. After getting off the KRL, people who continued their trip by taking other transportation modes often caused a crowd along Jalan Jatibaru.

Arrangement of Tanah Abang Station, he assessed, could realize integration between transportation and spatial planning, as well as intermodal integration, thus passengers could be comfortable when changing public transportation.

"But now it's different. Everything focuses on the arranged area, where there is Transjakarta buses, mikrotrans, bajaj, online and conventional motorcycle taxis. Thus passenger's mobility and movement can be orderly. Likewise with other stations, such as Palmerah, Tebet, Sudirman, Juanda, and Senen Stations," he stated.

For information, Jakarta Government had arranged integrated stations in four locations in 2020, namely Tanah Abang Station, Senen Station, Sudirman Station, and Juanda Station.

This year, arrangement is continued in four other stations: Tebet Station, Palmerah Station, Manggarai Station, and Gondangdia Station. Two of them have been inaugurated, namely Tebet Station and Palmerah Station.

Besides, there are 24 integrated intermodal transport locations in Jakarta. In detail, 6 locations are integrated between MRT and Transjakarta (Lebak Bulus, Blok M, Senayan, Bendungan Hilir, Bundaran HI, and Cakra Selaras Wahana (CSW)), 2 locations are integrated between Transjakarta and LRT (Velodrome and Pulomas).

Next, 13 locations are integrated between KRL stations and Transjakarta (Tanah Abang, Pasar Senen, Tanjung Priok, Jakarta Kota, Juanda, Tebet, Palmerah, Kebayoran, Grogol, Jatinegara, Klender, Buaran, and Gondangdia), and 3 locations are integrated between modes of transportation (Manggarai, Dukuh Atas, and Cawang).

Urban transportation nodes, he added, must also facilitate pedestrians to make it easy and quick to move to other public transport. Therefore, intermodal transfer distance is less than 500 meters. Likewise, pedestrian access to public transportation is maximum 500 meters.

"Pedestrians in urban areas can walk around 500 meters. This pattern is now being applied by Jakarta. We can see that before arrangement in Tanah Abang, along Jalan Jatibaru is used as terminal. So, people walk more than 500 meters to reach public minivan. But after being arranged, people's activity with distance more than 500 meters can concentrated in one area," he conveyed.
