Cleanup Action in 82 Locations Has Touched 80 Percent

To speed up it, we plan to add more heavy equipment soon

As many as 408 personnel of Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Agency have been deployed to clean up mud and garbage in water channels, rivers and reservoirs spread over 82 locations.

SDA Agency Head, Yusmada Faisal said, to maximize it, as many as 46 amphibious excavators and 124 dump trucks had been alerted at the location.

"It has touched 80 percent so far. To speed it up , we plan to add more heavy equipment soon," he expressed, Monday (10/18).

In addition to maintenance, he explained, it was also aimed at increasing the capacity and smoothing the flow of water in order to prevent the potential for flooding, especially during heavy rains.

"It has been ongoing since March and will be carried out massively on September until December," he stated.

Here are some large-scale cleanup action locations in Jakarta:

1. Munjul Reservoir, with a planned dredged volume of 163,164 cubic meters with a wet reservoir area of 51,962 square meters

2. Mookevart River, will be dredged up to one meter with 4.4 kilometers with a dredged volume of 154,000 cubic meters

3. Krukut River, Jalan Bendungan Hilir - Menara Batavia along 670 meters with a dredged volume of 12,060 cubic meters

4. Sunter River, North Jakarta in the Rawa Badak Pump segment with 495 meters length and the Artha Gading segment with 210 meters length. The target volume of mud dredged in the two locations is 26,000 cubic meters
