Tonight, SDA Starts to Build Crossing Channel on Jl. Kolonel Sugiono Duren Sawit

East Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency will build crossing channel on Jl. Kolonel Sugiono, Duren Sawit, starting this Friday (11/26). This crossing channel is built to overcome inundation in residential areas of RW 06 and 09 of Duren Sawit Urban Village.

It is targeted to be completed within three days

The plan to build crossing channel was decided in joint meeting attended by SDA Sub-agency, Bina Marga Sub-agency, Transportation Sub-agency, Satpol PP, and East Jakarta Satwil Lantas at Mayor Office. This meeting was led by East Jakarta Secretary, Fredy Setiawan.

According to him, building crossing channel could overcome inundation that usually occurs in RW 06 and 09 of Duren Sawit Urban Village. The trigger is connecting (phb) channel on Jl. Abadi that led to Tegal Amba phb channel on Jl. Dermaga which is narrowing. Thus when water discharge is high, water turns back towards phb channel on Jl. Abadi. Therefore, his side asked SDA Sub-agency to build crossing channel thus water can be channeled to East Jakarta Flood Canal (KBT).

"We hope by building the channel, water discharge can be divided to flow to Tegal Amba phb channel and KBT. Therefore it can reduce water load on Abadi phb channel and Jl. Melur phb channel that located in Komplek Abadi," he explained.

Since the crossing channel will be built under Jl. Kolonel Sugiono, he asked related units to anticipate traffic congestion. Moreover, there are many street vendors who sell at night in KBT area.

East Jakarta SDA Sub-agency's Maintenance Section Head, Puryanto stated, crossing channel will be built along 16 meters using box culvert with size 1.5x1.5 meters. The channel will be connected to phb channel on Jl. Abadi and Jl. Amarta which will be normalized. Later, the crossing channel will be also connected to KBT.

"Starting tonight, at 21:00-05:00, we will build crossing channel on Jl. Kolonel Sugiono. It is targeted to be completed within three days. If it is not completed yet, it will be continued next week. Because if it is done on weekdays, it is feared that it will cause severe traffic jam," he mentioned.

Not only building crossing channel on Jl. Kolonel Sugiono, his side is currently also normalizing phb channel on Jl. Abadi along 50 meters by operating one heavy equipment to dredge and install U-ditch concrete with size 1.2x1.2 meters and cover it with concrete. This work has been carried out since two weeks ago.

Later, his side will also normalize channel on Jl. Amarta along 5 meter and KBT parallel channel with Jl. Kolonel Sugiono as long as 70 meters. Later all the channels will be normalized and connected to crossing channel on Jl. Kolonel Sugiono.

"This work will be carried out by 25-30 SDA personnel. We also deploy 2 heavy equipment to accelerate the work," he said.
