Central Jakarta - BPOM Conducts Integrated Food Safety Monitoring and Evaluation

The Jakarta's Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) together with the Central Jakarta administration, conducted workshop monitoring and evaluation of village/urban village food safety movement program (GKPD), Safe School Food Snacks (PJAS) and Safe Markets from Hazardous Materials (PABB) 2021 in Main Multipurpose Room, Central Jakarta Mayor's Office, Jalan Tanah Abang I, Gambir.

It is implemented to improve knowledge and awareness of the importance of food safety in the community.

The workshop opened by Central Jakarta's Economy and Development Assistant, Bakwan Ferizan Ginting expressed, the food safety rate in Central Jakarta was above 90 percent based on the results of the food safety test, which was intervened in nine urban villages through Food Safe Village program. Those nine urban villages included Cikini, Rawasari, Bendungan Hilir, Kenari, Sumur Batu, Harapan Mulya, Gunung Sahari Utara, Petojo Selatan, and Johar Baru.

"But, some urban villages need to improve their intervention, namely Cikini and Sumur Batu. This intervention will continue in 2022," he expressed, Monday (12/13).

Aside that, there were also 28 schools intervened through PJAS and one market through community-based safe food market program, namely Gembrong Market, Central Jakarta.

"By so, it can get useful suggestions and inputs for the implementation of this program in the future," he hoped.

Jakarta's BPOM Head, Yudi Noviandi added, from three intervention programs conducted, he recommended all of these activity programs should be continued and also asked for the commitment from urban village head, school, PD Pasar Jaya and cadre to continue implementing sustainable food safety programs.

"Because from the results of PJAS sample, we found that among them were Rhodamine B in sweet fragrance, positive for Escherichia Coli in grass jelly. Therefore, each region's intervention must be intensified again," he stressed.

Central Jakarta TP PKK Chairperson, Ucu Jamilah appreciated this intervention as it provided education for family food security. From this intervention, it could create the next generation of a good nation. This collaboration was expected to be continued in order to maintain food in Jakarta.

"I really welcome it, as this is one of the targets, namely the family, in our family we must serve healthy food and must be smart to sort out the food for our consumption," she stated.
