COVID-19 Vaccination for Children Aged 6-11 Years Starts Today

COVID-19 vaccination for children aged 6-11 years in North Jakarta starts today. The ceremonial declaration of vaccination was carried out simultaneously in 6 public elementary schools (SDN) which representing each sub-district.

There are 204,009 targeted children aged 6-11 years

North Jakarta Mayor, Ali Maulana Hakim affirmed, COVID-19 vaccination for children aged 6-11 years in North Jakarta would be carried out optimally.

"Based on data from North Jakarta Population and Civil Registration Sub-agency, there are 204,009 targeted children aged 6-11 years," he said after launching and monitoring vaccination activity at SDN Pegangsaan Dua 07 on Jalan Acordion, RT 01/20, Pegangsaan Dua Urban Village, Kelapa Gading Sub-district, North Jakarta, Tuesday (12/14).

According to him, vaccination at schools was a right decision. Not only because schools have complete students data, but it also have adequate facilities, such as internet networks, classrooms, parking, and others.

"We will do it gradually and quickly. It is one of our efforts to provide protection from COVID-19 transmission," he stated.

North Jakarta Health Sub-agency Head, Yudi Dimyati conveyed, COVID-19 vaccination was carried out in schools because it was considered very effective and showed high enthusiasm of parents to deliver their children.

"We use Sinovac for vaccination. We are optimistic that 100 percent vaccination target for children aged 6-11 years can be achieved," he mentioned.

SDN Pegangsaan Dua 07 Principal, Upi Rupiyah explained, total students registered and participated in today's vaccination reached 257 of total 380 students from class 1 to 6.

"Until now, we are still waiting forms containing parental consent. For students who haven't participated in today's vaccination, we will inform them about next vaccination according to schedule from sub-district health center," she added.

One of student's parent, Yuni (37) admitted that she agreed that her child was vaccinated for the child's health and to avoid COVID-19 transmission.

"We are following government's recommendation for mutual health. Hopefully, this can prevent children from being exposed to COVID-19. Thus we can feel more secure and comfortable when they take a part in face-to-face learning," she expressed.
