Jakarta Launches Prof. Abdulrachman Saleh Ambulance Boat

Jakarta Government encourages the presence of equality and social justice for all Jakarta residents, including to provide equal access to health for Jakarta residents living in Thousand Islands. Therefore, Jakarta Government launched the Prof. Abdulrachman Saleh Ambulance. The launch was symbolically held at Pola Room, Jakarta City Hall on Thursday (12/23).

We want those who live in islands to feel equal in accessing services

According to Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan, this ambulance boat was made as one of Jakarta Government's efforts to provide equal access to health services. "We want those who live in islands to feel equal in accessing services. We are sending message to all Jakarta residents that equality of opportunity and service must exist. It means, what is done on the land, should be also done in archipelago," he stated, as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Release.

On this occasion, he also explained the meaning of ambulance's name. Abdulrachman Saleh is national hero from Jakarta. He was also a doctor in early period of independence, physiologist, a pioneer in radio technology as well as in Indonesian aviation.

"The name given is Prof. dr. Abdulrachman Saleh. Thank you for being here, the family of Mr. Abdulrachman Saleh. He was nicknamed karbol which means role model. He is one of doctors from Jakarta in early period," he conveyed.

"This republic is full of people who gave their lives to fight for justice. Not only just independence, and when you want ambulance boat to be named, we have to give a name that carries a message and Abdulrachman Saleh is very appropriate," he added.

Prof. Abdulrachman Saleh Ambulance Boat is the first emergency ambulance boat which has 3 rooms, namely advance room, infectious room in which there is hepa filter, basic and perina room which equipped with incubator. It is hoped this ambulance can help in handling emergency cases.
