Connecting Channel Construction on Jalan I Gusti Ngurah Rai Almost Complete

The progress of making connecting channel (phb) and channel crossing on Jalan I Gusti Ngurah Rai has touched five percent. Nevertheless, the East Jakarta administration has asked the vendor to immediately finish it.

Drainage Development and Improvement Division Head, Tengku Saugi Zikri said, U-ditch installation at the location was completed already. In fact, the top was not completely completed when closed again. On Thursday (12/30) night to Friday (12/31) dawn, the remaining 130 meters of the road has been completely casted, where it carried out at night to dawn in order to avoid traffic jam.

"The entire path is 130 meters long left, but it was completely casted last night. Now we are waiting to dry, about 10 days. However, if the weather is bright, the cast concrete will dry within a week," he explained.

According to him, if it was dry, vehicles from west to east or from Jatinegara to Cakung, which originally passed on the Transjakarta route, would be diverted to regular route. The Transjakarta corridor was closed for installing the remaining box culverts at the crossing, which is connected with phb channel, Jalan Gusti Ngurah Rai.

Crossing that had not been completed and had no connection to Phb channel had two points, on the north side of Jalan I Gusti Ngurah Rai. Each has about six meters length, using U-Ditch material measuring 2.5x2.5 meters

"We ask the vendor to complete it 100 percent, even though we have given them a fine," he continued.

According to him, the main obstacle faced by vendors in the field was heavy intense rain. Then there were many utility networks at the site, ranging from fiber optic cables, PLN, Telkom to water pipes. Moreover, U-Ditch concrete material was quite heavy, measuring 2.5x2.5 meters.

Due to the delay in this work, his party had imposed a late fine of one per mile of work remaining or one per thousand of the volume. Total volume of the channel being worked on was 878 meters and each crossing was 20 meters length.

"Certainly, we hope residential areas in RW 09 and 10 can be free of flooding when the work is done," he hoped.
