Perumda Pasar Jaya will revitalize Kramat Jati Central Market, East Jakarta. This revitalization project is planned to start this year.

Perumda Pasar Jaya President Director, Arief Nasrudin stated, related to revitalization project, his side had socialized it to traders in Kramat jati Central Market.

"This revitalization is also for traders, customers, and those who carry out activities in Kramat Jati Central Market. Commodities in Kramat Jati Central Market are supplied from various regions in Indonesia, we also provide comfortable place for expedition crews who transport the commodities to rest," he mentioned, Thursday (1/6).

Revitalization project will be carried out in stages. Thus traders can still sell their commodities.

"In revitalizing Kramat Jati Central Market, we are trying to ensure them (traders) to sell at their current location without moving to temporary shelter (TPS). Our target is to complete the revitalization in a year," he conveyed.

According to him, Kramat Jati Central Market revitalization will be a part of the New Face of Jakarta as traditional market that is clean, thematic, and comfortable.

"This market is visited by many people from various regions in Indonesia. We want to tell story about visiting Kramat Jati Central Market to give good impression to everyone," he said.

Kramat Jati Central Market's Big Market Unit (UPB) Manager, Agus Lamun added, socalization about Kramat Jati Central Market revitalization has been carried out since December 9, 2021. At the initial stage, only U-shape wholesale building whose use rights period that will expire soon in 2024-2025.

"We have also asked them to determine trader representatives to make it easier to convey their aspirations. It is natural if there is dynamics in the field, but we will make sure to find joint solutions," he said.

Revitalization that will be carried out on area about 14.7 hectares has a good purpose, especially for traders. Kramat Jati Central Market has a potential to become shopping tourism destination. Moreover, the location is not far from Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) which is always visited by many visitors/tourists from various regions.

"There are 4,508 business places with total 1,666 existing traders in Kramat Jati Central Market. If the market becomes better, cleaner, and more comfortable, of course, we hope customers to feel happy and continue to shop in here. As the results, sales turnover and traders' welfare will also increase," he explained.

Meanwhile, Jakarta Council (DPRD) Commission B Member, Adi Kurnia Setiadi wanted this revitalization process not to make traders lose their job.

"I want them to continue selling while Kramat Jati Central Market is being revitalized. I'm sure that with good dialogue, all problems can be resolved. In the near future, I will monitor Kramat Jati Central Market to see the real conditions in the field, as well as to absorb people's aspirations," he said.
