Prevent Stunting, Governor Anies Distributes Fortified Rice

We support all parties involved

Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan distributes fortified rice type FS Nutri Rice to prevent stunting cases in Jakarta. The fortified rice is premium quality rice, low in carbohydrates, but rich in micronutrients.

He disclosed the fortified rice distribution was realized through the collaboration between PT Food Station, National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), and PT Sumber Alfaria Trijaya (Alfamart) as supporting parties who participate in distributing it to residents.

Stunting Rate in Central Jakarta is Decreasing

It was launched simultaneously in commemoration of National Nutrition Day and was attended by PT Food Station President Commissioner, Sudirman Said; PT Food Station President Director, Pamrihadi Wiraryo; Acting Deputy for Research and Innovation Utilization of BRIN, Mego Pinandito; Alfamart representatives; and various Jakarta officials.

"We support all parties involved, whose efforts are in line with the National Priority Program to accelerate the reduction of stunting. It is done after we saw many examples of developed and developing communities, as the government has prepared the nutrients that residents need," he expressed, at Jakarta City Hall, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release, Tuesday (1/25).

In preventing stunting and other nutritional deficiencies, he assessed, the diet for future mothers and children at a young age is one of the crucial things to pay attention to.

That's why, with FS Nutri Rice, it was expected to be able to improve nutritional adequacy, especially for pregnant women and young people in Jakarta.

"To realize it, its distribution needs to be done evenly and on time. In the future, this collaboration needs to continue to accelerate the reduction of stunting, malnutrition, and anemia experienced by the community, especially residents of Jakarta," he explained.

He also hoped that it could be a new chapter and a solution for residents to solve nutritional problems, especially stunting. It is also expected to have a wide distribution range.

"Hope this product campaign will be wider, as there are many types of rice and different qualities. After passing through research stage, it will be produced by the Food Station thus it gets supports from related SKPD to be distributed to the public," he concluded.

As for the information, it is one of the strategic actions and solutions to accelerate the reduction of stunting, malnutrition, and anemia for residents distributed through the Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT) or Social Assistance scheme, Jakarta Smart Card (KJP), Posyandu, Breakfast for TK-SD-SMP, as well as many other programs.

PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya had received the first order for 26,000 packs of FS Nutri Rice products. So, residents can get 1-kg FS Nutri Rice packs at 2,000 Alfamart outlets spread across Greater Jakarta.
