South Jakarta Residents Urged to Celebrate Chinese New Year Simply

South Jakarta Mayor, Munjirin has warned the public to remain vigilant and disciplined in implementing health protocols when worshiping in the monastery during the Imlek (Chinese New Year) celebrations.

No Barongsai performance

"Percentage of monastery capacity during PPKM level 2 and health protocols must be obeyed to curb the spread of Covid-19," he said, Sunday (1/30).

For security, his party would deploy personnel in several monasteries spread over South Jakarta.

"As an apparatus, we will continue to disseminate information to the public," he asserted.

Chel, a Caretaker of the Amurva Bhumi Monastery added there would be no Barongsai (lion dance) performance to welcome the Chinese New Year.

"No Barongsai performance. Before entering the monastery, every visitor must go through body temperature checking and wear a mask, including limiting the number of people in the prayer room," he stated.
