Governor Anies' Visit to Bio Hok Tek Tjeng Sin Temple Gets Appreciation

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, visited the Bio Hok Tek Tjeng Sin Temple on Jalan Tepekong Block Ran 97, Grogol Selatan, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (2/1).

His arrival at the temple was greeted enthusiastically by Confucians who came to worship.

Jakarta's Confucian Supreme Council of Indonesia (Matakin), Liem Liliany Lontoh said the Governor's visit today was a joyous thing. It indicated he was a pluralist, not discriminating against ethnic, religious, or racial backgrounds.

"We appreciate and are happy for his visit to our house of worship," she expressed, Tuesday (1/2).

She revealed, he had time to ask about religious activities at Bio Hok Tek Tjeng Sin amid PPKM Level 2. She explained the service was still running, especially the mourning service and humanitarian service.

The humanitarian services referred to include helping to ease the burden on people affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and other disasters regardless of differences.

"Who needs us we will help. We prioritize all public services," she asserted.

The same statement also came out from Fuyanto (34), one of the people who came to worship with his family. He appreciated the Jakarta administration could provide space and attention for all religious people, especially the Confucian religion.

"We feel the government's existence in ensuring the Imlek (Chinese New Year) can run well and conducive," he added.

He also welcomed the policy of allowing worship with capacity restrictions, which is effective to contain the transmission of Covid-19 and people could worship safely and comfortably.

"Thank you for your attention, Mr. Governor. Hope religious tolerance can be maintained in Jakarta," he hoped.
